Shine’S 2026 ScHolarship Application

The 2026 Shine Scholarship celebrates LGBTQ+ high school graduating seniors in the Charlottesville area as they move into their next chapter - whether that's college, trade program, or jumping straight into the workforce. This award honors students who embody authenticity, creativity, and community spirit.
AWARD DETAILS:
Amount: $500 per recipient
Recipients: At least two per year
Funds: Unrestricted (you can use them however they'll help you most) and will be paid directly to the student
Who can apply: Any LGBTQ+ graduating senior from Charlottesville City or Albemarle County planning to enter the job market, college or a trade program following graduation
HOW TO APPLY:
Applicants should email Shine at admin@shinecville.com with a short essay (no more than 500 words) telling us a little about yourself, your goals and how you plan to utilize the funds. You must also include your contact information (email, address and phone number).
IMPORTANT DATES:
Applications Open: November 1, 2025
Applications Close: May 1, 2026
Winners notified and funds awarded: May 2026
